So true...

So true, but sometimes very hard to stick to...
Let's do our best...

On the inside...

Sometimes, when you're lucky, you'll get treated with the beautiful surprises of mother nature...
Whilst we were on a walk in the Dutch dunes, we saw a tree with a hole in it, looked like a squirrel's house... When we got closer and looked into the hole we found out that the squirrel moved houses and a family of mushrooms moved in...
The baby of the family lay on the floor and the house guest (left, reeaally close-up) was just leaving them...
Sometime we're so lucky...!

Pieces of art...

Yesterday, together with some friend we went to see some rolling art creations... Also airbrush- and tattoo demonstrations were taking place... Just have a look at that single down tube on this black and beautiful sickle...
That single tube and the bands in the two tubes that disappear under the engine... The contrast between the black and the aluminum and chrome...
Just beautiful...!

Beautiful nature...

Yesterday we had a nice long walk through the nature in our 'back-yard'... We went the the National Park on a 7 minute car drive from our home... Enjoyed the autumn in all it's beauty... We left the common path and followed the horse trail and encountered more of the nice stuff than the other people did... When we curled back to the main path, we ran into some beautiful Scottish cows and the kids climbed a tree 'cause they didn't trust the situation...hahaha... Me caught the cows on camera... We also saw a lot of gnome's houses... Non of them were at home...

Autumn forrest walks...

Kids running around with a plastic bag, collecting chestnuts-beechnuts-acorn, is a funny thing to observe... Mushrooms are also one of these
beauty things of nature... and the function as gnomes houses as well, so be carefull. Don't step on them or crush them, you'll make another gnome homeless... Look at this compilation of houses we ran into yesterday...

Autumn ride...

Yesterday, the wife and the kids went to do their own thing... I got on The Old Gall and rode around our province/state for a couple of hours... Enjoying the good weather and the wind in my face... This might be the last ride of the season (on this sickle)... I got as North as possible (me thinks) in the state without taking the boat to the Northen island...

Light the darkness...

Let there be light!
The shape, roundings lines, the total design of this lamp is constant playing with surrounding and inner parts...
In day light it's a nice circular-holed design and when switched on during evenings the reflections and created shadows make it a complete piece of art...

Project 52...

A pic a week...
Forcing my creativity to do it's best, or so... I gave myself a task for a year... It's called Project 52... 52 weeks, every week a picture... Taken with my mobile and editted on my mobile... Every week a different theme, friends are joining in as well now... very nice...
Top pica is from this weeks theme; Coffee..
Bottom is from the theme 'Glass'...
Catching beautiful creativity...

Morning dew...

Morning dew...
Waking up, having breaky and looking out the window into the back yard... The hedge was filled with spider webs, all coverd with morning dew... The beauty of the design of their 'self build house and pray catching device' becomes more obvious... And it makes it easy for us guys to not walk into them as well...!!

Shapes & Curves...

Shapes and curves...
It's all about roundings, shapes and curves... Not only with the human creations of mother earth but also in our own graphic creations... Nice typefaces and beautiful typography is like eye-candy... (Jus have a look on Pinterest - Typography...) Let us go back to the time of the old school ad board painters and pin-stripers... Respect to (all) the craftsmen creating stuff with their hands...!

Distracted by appearence...

Distracted by appearence...
I was watching tele last night, the 2010 Shanghai movie was on... I kind of followed the story, playing in WW2... Somehow I got distracted by the appearence of Gong Li...

Click, clack...

Overloaded...?
That's what I think about when I see Japanese tourists taking pictures of everything they see... Their memory cards, laptops, families ability to absorb impressions of their relatives holiday in Europe,
they all will be overloaded...
Maybe it's an idea to be more selective in what you want to capture... It always makes me laugh when I see a situation like this... Making pictures of a flowershop, not only the man but also the woman, so 'double overloaded'...
How often will they look back at these thousands of pictures the caught on their holiday...???

Boating...

Making our way to the zoo on Sunday... We took the Fast Fying Ferry to Amsterdam and walked from Amsterdam-Central station towards the Artis zoo... On our way we passed and unique moment... A couple of solar boats were coming together and bunched up for a demonstration on the canals of Amsterdam... The place they bunched up couldn't be better... Hyper modern boats in front of our one of sea sailing history heritage boats at the Marina museum... Ultra new and very old in one pica... Ain't that beautiful..??

Surf's up...!

Surfing, surfing,... Windsurfing...
This week with work we had a windsurf clinic, arranged by one of the cool surf dudes [including a nice sun teint ;-)]I'm working with...
Dressing up like Patric Swayze in the movie 'Point Break', in a very thight surf suit... Getting ready for my first ever windsurfing experience...
Dark threatening clouds above us and rain falling down... We even had a circle up in the clouds caused by turning winds... Very cool skies...!!!
It was a nice experience but after looking up the bottom of the surf board for about 90 times, I decided that this sport is not my cup of tea...
I'm more a coffee guy...!!

Catching a sunset...

On a Friday evening, after work... After a rain storm, after some little showers, after diner at the beach... we witnessed this beautiful sunset...
I even caught a very nice lens flare whilst catching this setting sun...
Just below the sun you see the edge of the rain front...

Dredging the surf....

Dredging in the surf...
Nature is a beauty thing and teaching kids, or making them aware, about it is even more beautiful. Just like last year we attended in a dredge birthday party on the beach.
The fathers dressed up in wetsuits and dragged the net behind the waves of the surf. We had a black flag on the beach so we had pretty strong and big waves...
Ooow, that's way it was so bloody bussy with kite surfers...
Any ways; the things dredged from the sea were great. All kinds of fish and other small marine wildlife... The kids loved it and got a bit educated as well... Let's do it again, soon...

(Almost looks like surfers paradise...)

A pic a day keeps the doctor away...
That's prob what they think at GoPro. They started a cool contest, pictures taken with a GoPro and the winner of the day gets a cam or other stuff they make... Ain't that cool? Look at this pica, I think it's true winner...!

Daily mission...

Vacation time...
When people around you come back from their vacations, mostly they happily want to share experiences and photo's...
Here's one I got shared recently taken on Bali... I just can't stop smiling when I see this face... And that should be one of your daily goals;
make atleast one person smile...

Making music...

Was listening to our national radio this morning... The DJ often has guests in his studio and in order to perform their own song, they have to cover a song out our Top50 charge as well... This Dutch singer Krystl does a fanfuckingtastic version of Lorde's Royals...

You can have a look and listen here: http://bit.ly/1dKMjMn

Blue beauty...

The beauty of the unexpected...
Sometimes you run into situations that you don't expect and get a really beautiful surprise. Like this little blue beauty. I ran into thisone Friday evening, nextdoor to the sports school. Looks like we're gonna meet every Friday evening now and I really don't care. Look at the beautiful roundings, the wheel hubs and the little back lights. The shape of the fenders and the nice blue colour...

Doin' her own thing...

Nature is a beautiful thing and is all around us. We like to keep control of nature in our surroundings; like to keep the grass short, sweep the side walk, cut our hair and so on...

But what happens if you let nature do her own thing? Just leave you car in the woods for a couple of years and see what nature does to it.
Is'nt it great to see that nature doesn't give a crap where it has to grow and just does her own thing...

That's why I'm a sucker for picas like this one...
Love the green stuff on old cars...

Rollin' in the hay...

Every day we drove by fields filled with rolls of hay... Fields full of sunflowers, vineyards and I just had to stop and catch a couple of these moments... These images are in my opinion connected with summer holiday/vacation...! Now, sice it's raining here's, another summer image!

Let there be light...

Last night we had the first training in our sportschools' new location.
90% finished, dojo needs some dotting the i's and other things need some crossing of the t's...
Time to start-up the new season of getting back into shape... Cool ceiling lights in the bar and reception area...

Old features...

Instead of beeing torn down, an old kitchen (Buynzeel in Zaandam, the Netherlands) factory is beeing restored and also adjusted to the standards of today. But with the original features of design, like the small industrial windows. Why make it easy on yourself, tear it all down and build something completely new, when you can keep the surroundings it beautiful as well.

All you need is happiness...

The sun flower...
The beauty, to me, in this flower is that it makes you feel the sun is shining even if it don't... Makes you feel happy...
Makes you feel the sun is out all day!!!
Maybe that's why fields full of them are grown in France to keep you feel happy and make you keep on coming back to that country... Happy flower, is that why it's connected to the flower-power aera...?

Aaaannnnd we're back...

Again...
The beauty of going on vacation is... coming back from vacation. Cleaning all you shit again and putting it away for another year. Loads of laundry to do and the car needs some cleaning as well...
So starting saving up again, going back to work tomorrow... Let's see what beauties the new day will bring us, as long as the sun comes up and we stay happy and relaxed.
Me says; start driving a car like this...

Cool 3D...

Yesterday we ran into a great experience...
At our local art-rental-center they had an expo about 3D printing. I caught this skull at the expo with my mobile phone, did some photoshoppin' afterwards.
Yes, this skull came from a 3D-printer. Ain't that beautiful?
Also check out the work of Eric van Straaten...

Hanging loose...

Vacation time...
I don't really know who is the creator of vacation time but I think we should thank him/her.
The beauty is in the fact that you can do what ever you want with whom ever you want where ever you want.
You are free!! Free to do what you feel like. Free to create if you feel like or just chill if you feel like that.
Nobody there to tell you what to do, it's your time...
Enjoy your annual vacation and enjoy what you'll be doing.
Stay safe and happy returns...

Curved lines...

I can still remember my brother bought his first mobile-/car phone...

Motorola was the brand to buy. He bought a double car kit, one for his private car and one for his truck. He rode around Europe as a trucky. A big car kit with a big horn with the buttons on the out-side and a big box with electronics. As an extra he got a mobile phone; pull-out antenna and fold-open the lower half. About 1 1/2 inch thick and heavy as a brick... Cost a furtune!
That was 1990...
If you look at the mobile phones of today... It's more like a pocket pc; internet, agenda, camera, e-mail, navigation and so on. Thinner and thinner they get, screens getting bigger and bigger.
I love the Samsung Galaxy design with the rounded corners and the smooth looks. It's almost a piece of art...

(Did you ever see that crash test with and iPhone and a Galaxy... Google it!)

Keep colouring...

Ever since Graphic school been working with these fine markers... Only the design is already cool... Refillable, rounded edges,
two way tips, two sizes in tips but very expensive...
Love the colours...!

Threadning...

At the time of the idea and design, the artist must have
felt pretty screwed...
But it's still a good idea, when you nailed something and it won't stick
to think of another way to keep it in its' place...
Why don't you screw it...?
They come in all shapes and sizes.
Bold headed, flat headed even with a cross or do I say Philip shead.
Notice the t
hread running down its' side, allll the way down...

So if nailing isn't good enough, you have to screw it...!!!

Roundings on the beach...

On the beach...
On the beach we're surrounded with curved shapes and
all sorts of roundings. I love those shapes and
curved lines flowing into other curved lines, some disappearing into unseen dark areas.
Flowing curved lines and roundings, beautiful!

Respect to the artist who created these pieces of art.

Gee...

Gee... what can I say...
It's been almost 20 years since I've opened my eyes to the
beauty of this letter.
In graphic school, in typography lessons they learned us to open our eyes to the beauty of letters and typefaces. One of my favorites is the lower case g of the Garamond font/typeface. Beautifull roundings,
almost like the shape of a woman.
(I think the designer was a womanloving man...)

Spokes spoken...

Spokes...
A rhim, a hub and spokes. That's what it takes to
keep it round and rideable.
Through a hole in the hub, attached to the rhim with a
small locking nut. The little nu is also useable for
adjusting the tension of the spoke...
The beauty is they all work together like a team,
dividing the hanging force of the spokes on the top half
of the wheel.

Wrench shapes...

The curves and line of a monkey wrench...
The mouth of the bolt or nut holder is adjustable, ain't that
a great idea...
The shape of the hand area is shaped so you have a better grip whilst using it. Better the grip the more force you can use on the wrench. At the end of the stem they created a hole so you can hang you wrench on a nail on the wall.
So practical!
The artist created a beautifull and practical tool,
the 'Monkey wrench'

Gravel...

The beauty of/in gravel...
The size, shapes and colours are all different.
The gravel with the rounded shapes got their shape from running water, how about that. That soft water shaping rocks.
In other words; water rocks!

Magic spoon...

This weekend my family and I ran into the wonders of the magic spoon again... We used the spoon to see our mirror image whilst we were trying sunglasses. When you look in the outer side of the spoon you see yourself 'normal' but what happens when you look at yourself in the inner side...? Indeed, you see yourself up-side-down... aint that magic???
And another thing about spoons; did you ever try to let it hang from the tip of your nose? That's magic too...!!!

New flops...

Bought myself a new pair of Reef flipflops...
The footshape contours, the minimalistic straps. Beginning at on the inner- and outer side of either foot and disappear between the biggest
and second biggist toe.
Isn't it great how the artist created a minimalistic shoe
specially for the summer...

Bulbs...

The light bulb...
On 22th of October 1879 the invention of the light bulb
was attributed to Thomas Edison. Many people in that era where busy with burning strings and Edison was the first one that filled in the application form for the patent.

Did he ever think about the peer shape or was that just
Orangina bottle he had on the shelf?

This is a very good invention for photography > catching the light

Shapes...

Did you ever... take a closer look at an egg??
The beautiful eliptical shapes... On one hand so weak but
on the other hand also so strong...
And produced by a chick!!

Wednesday, 26 June 2013

Can you handle me...?

Great to see the contrast between the handle and the wood.
The stainless steel door handle with the straight lines and the perfect round corners, standing off against the roughness,
the curves and lines of nature in the wood of the door...

Cool sticks...

One stick doesn't look like much but ones they get together they start looking like a hedgehog...

Colour in your life...

Did you ever notice that most of the pencils are sharpened under the same agle...? Wouldn't it be a great forrest if all the trees had already the colours in them or is that why in autumn the leaves has their colour make over...?
