New project...

Yeah, I know it's been to long... sorry for that. Needed some time to get organised...

I started a new Project for myself in photography; Project B&W (Project Black and White) After the succes of Project 52, taking one pica a week according to the theme of that week, I desided to create only black & whites for this project. Maybe it's better to call them "greyscales" now I think about it...

Touristic adventures...

Went on another touristic adventure last weekend...
With in laws and oversees family we went to the "Zuiderzeemuseum" in Enkhuizen, the Netherlands... If you're planning a short visit to our country and you like to see the Zaanseschans, then you also wanna visit this museum... It's an original village what turned into an open air museum... Get letterly a taste and smell how it was around 1920 in a Dutch village like that...
The kids can dress-up like kids in these days... the wooden shoes are part of the costume... and after they're to small or worn out, you can make a little sail boat out of them... Just go there (little boat ride included) and have fun...!!!

Sharp lines...

During our walk today, Sandy and I ran into this brand new boardwalk floating on the water side... Very nice attach points for the boats rope... Look at the sharp lines, the stainless steel and the contrast with the wood... And what about these clouds...

Playing the tourist...

Been walking around in our capitol last Sunday... I almost only ran into tourists... I looked like one myself with my camera hangin' around my neck... hahaha...
Spontaneous we even jumped on boat for a tour on the channels through the city. We even learned a thing or two about Amsterdam as well...

The Mistres...

Mother nature, I think she's the greatest artist of us all... If you see what she can pull out of her sleave at the time she wants, is just stunning...
Having a little stroll in the neighbourhood, you'll find the most beautiful pieces of art... Look at this one... A very nice version of an Ornithogalum umbellatum... Say what? The "Ordinairy Birds Milk"
(that's a letterly translation from the Dutch name...)
Found it in the shoulder of the road, 100 meters from our family's HQ...
Yep, Mother nature is Queen...!!

The old masters...

Driving home from a friend's son's birthday party we ran into these guys... I couldn't resist and just had to catch this beautiful moment... Not only the contrast in color between the red tulips and blue sky but also the beautiful clouds is what creates this magical moment... I can see why the old Dutch masters wanted to paint the famous paintings they did... Here's a modern version of an old Dutch master's...

Un-expected beauty...

Sometimes you'll find beauty in most un-expected places...
On the annual motorcycle expo, on a Japanse motor brand booth we ran into this interesting tail-light/indicators section design... Nice on...

Re-using stuff...

Yesterday, my brother in law and niece went to another annual motorcycle expo...
All brands are there and all kinds of aftermarket booths as well... Near the entrance was this beautiful statue... Sickle welded up out of sheet metal and the cyclist made from metal wire which kept the pieces of glass together... Very nice...!!

Going underground...

Hitting the treasure chambers, that's how it feld last Saturday. Son and me went shoppping for son's new shoes and parked the car in an underground parking underneath an old militairy base in my old hometown...
Entering we were surprised by the amount of classic cars parked there. Most of them obivously collecting dust down there. Some of the owners bought special covers for their treasures, this owner just stole some bedsheet from the cupboard and stitched the together... I bet the wife is pretty angry when she discovers where her pretty yellow sheets went...

Painfull fingers...

Family was cleaning out the attic and they called me to help them out... They had three guitars and only wanted to keep one, if I could advise them... Since I played in a band before they thought I could advice them which to keep... In the end I ended up with two guitars in the back of the car driving home...
One of them I really liked, the other could end-up as a play/dummy guitar for son and daughter...
I took them to the local guitar builder (after guitar two had fallen on its side and broke in two) and asked him for advice...
Guitar number two was a nice art piece for on the wall he said and he adjusted guitar number one and put new strings on it... (Just look at that neck! Ain't that just RocknRoll?)Ok, now I only needed to play the bugger...
Through internet I ended on in10lessons website and now on a daily basis I practise with my on-line guitar teacher... Playing guitar for dummies...
Love it! New daily challenge!
(Auch, my fingers...)

I just knew it...

According to a stockphoto website one of the new trends for
2014 is Lens Flare
I often get the idea, I'm ahead of trends. Often I'm looking for stuff and one of two years later you'll find it in every store.
I've been doing my best to catch lens flare so often to create that extra interesting thing in a pica. The one above I caught in 2011...!!!
And in my Project 52 I catch things with my smartphone, following a list of theme's, one for every week. One pica a week... Look at number 6 in the list... I rest my case...

1. Diverse women
2. Hands-on dads
3. Beards
4. Lens Flare
5. Man as machine
6. Cameras we wear
7. Multi-racial models
8. 2014 FIFA World Cup
9. Witches
10. Handcrafted vectors
11. Intagrammy food shots
12. Experiences over things
13. Creative collaboration

"Lens flare...
Lens flare is no longer seen as a technical mistake but a way to achieve authenticity..."
